a little more about Simon

Writer, Director & Producer

Every 4 years, Simon P.R. Bewick has to decide whether he’s more French than English when it comes to deciding who to back at each Football World Cup.

Always relegated to the position of goalkeeper, his identity anxiety led him to become a flight attendant at Air France, cocktail mixologist for Bacardi, history and geography teacher, sales agent for Twinings and even as a film critic, helping to create the magazine Spectres du cinéma.

In 2013, he was a jury member for the Révélations France 4 prize at the Cannes Film Festival for the Semaine de la critique. When he’s not mixing languages
languages, he sometimes acts in Deux, Rémi, Deux, by Pierre Léon and in Paul Sanchez escaped by Patricia Mazuy, Hugues by Pascal Cervo, and in the film Au secours ! by Bénédicte Brunet.
In 2012, his first feature-length documentary, Moi, ma mère et l’échec scolaire, was selected for the FID Marseille, launched his reflection on the paths of childhood and its wanderings, which he continued in the short documentary De quoi rêvent les libellules? a poetic exploration of adolescence that made its world premiere at FID in
His latest documentary film, Ne pas nous déranger nous sommes en séance, was released in cinemas internationally in September 2021 after winning several awards
and having joined the catalogue of the CNC Images de la culture and Images en bibliothèques then the publisher Karmafilms Commercial distribution is releasing a DVD edition.
Determined to tell stories for teenagers and young adults, his series Throw Yourself was part of the Eureka Series selection, which he pitched at the Series Mania festival in 2022, TalentUnlimited residency at the CANNESERIES festival. His latest series, Observant, was selected in competition at the 25th Valence Scénario festival. For France 3, he directed the documentary Littoral Normand, Amour Insolent, which takes a poetic and committed look at the Normandy coastline, with an original narrative written entirely as a poem in alexandrines and flat rhymes.

In 2023, he won the CNC‘s COCO-I award for the series Ma VDM, co-written with
Denisa Harbuz and Paul-Razvan Macovei, which earned him a place on the Going European programme.
An independent producer in his spare time, he divides his time between writing and directing projects on the edge of genres and formats..

…..but unfortunately still can’t dribble.
